Guess The Airline – December 2008 answer

Every month, an airline printed advertisement, minus airline name and logo, is displayed for your guessing pleasure on Guess The Airline. The following is the answer to a previous game.

Once again, this was an advertisement published on a Maclean’s issue of 1975. Are you ready? Scroll down!

Air New Zealand advertisement titled: 'If you knew Sydney like we know Sydney', from the year 1975, featuring the Sydney Opera House.

How to guess it?

With the Sydney Opera House prominently featured, it was easy to be tempted to answer Qantas. However, further down, it says that the airline flies DC-10s from Los Angeles to an unidentified country, then on to Australia. The list of “other islands of our South Pacific” says which countries the airline does NOT come from. The slogan, and the mention that Australia is the “neighbour across the Tasman Sea” of this airline’s home country were the ultimate clues.
