Two JAL commercials from the late 1980s featuring a version of “Boku no ude no naka de” (In my arms) by Kiyotaka Sugiyama. Translations courtesy of GrantInJapan.
Boeing 747
In this video combining slow motion and time-lapse, ground staff prepare a Boeing 747 for departure. At the end you can see some of them waving at the departing flight, in a typically Japanese tradition!
Song: “Fly away to a new world, spread your wings, and search for your dreams in the sky…”
Announcer: “We’ve got the plane ready and we’re waiting for you.
JAL, making nice flights.”
Slogan: “Give wings to your dreams”
Uniforms
Under the same song from the previous commercial, three JAL flight attendants “spround” sport their new 1988 uniforms in style and grace around an airport and a Boeing 747 cabin.
Song: “Fly away to a new world, spread your wings, and search for your dreams in the sky…”
Flight attendant: “Strong and proud! Strong and proud! We’re proud to welcome you aboard! The new JAL, making enjoyable vacations.”
Slogan: “Give wings to your dreams”
