After Southwest Airlines’ stakeout campaign, it only made sense for JetBlue to follow along with an answer to checked baggage fees. It’s quite funny to see the apparently genuine reactions of the people who can’t believe they’re getting charged just to put a suitcase in the trunk of a taxi. The rest of the campaign deals with a lot of other little irritants like absence of non-stop flights, leg room and not being given the whole can. An msnbc.com article about the campaign says the ads have “a familiar theme”. Indeed. It makes fun of other airlines, without calling names… and without showing us an airline. In fact, it shows how ridiculous some airline policies are by showing what would happen if they enforced them on the ground. It’s brilliant!
