“Found a better way to fly”? This advert from the late 1970s has a nice catchy song, beautiful footage of a DC-10, funny scenes featuring a passenger booking for himself and his wives (plural, yes), a ventriloquist checking in, and more. You might remember British Caledonian from its old slogan “We never forget you have a choice”, presumably to distinguish the airline from British Airways, then government-owned. And what about that last line (“Gottle O’Geer?”). It took some Googling to figure out that this is a pun at the way ventriloquists say “Bottle of Beer”.
Ah yes, this was a brilliant ad! I flew with B/Cal as cabin crew in the eighties, never a better way to fly.
