About

The site

airodyssey.net is a website dedicated to commercial aviation since 1998. This name was chosen because as the author likes to say, each flight can be a little air odyssey.

You’ll find airodyssey.net is like a little aviation reference corner, with such features as inflight passenger announcement scripts, airline commercials, quizzes, air disaster movie reviews, etc.

In 2010, a personal blog was added to airodyssey.net. The author reports and comments on current commercial aviation events and personal experiences.

Bonjour! My name is Sergio Ortega. I am an aviation enthusiast from Montreal, Canada and I am in my mid-thirties. You could say that ever since that first flight to emigrate from Peru as a child, I have been fascinated by aviation.

I am a translator specialized in the banking/financial industry. I also hold a degree in journalism with a specialization in German studies. So, yes, I am fluent in English, French and Spanish and I speak a little German.

I love to hear from my visitors. If you have any questions, comments, or if you would simply like to know more about me, write a comment below or send me an email.

  1. Hi Sergio! Nice site and interesting niche you have chosen for your blogs! I have worked in the travel industry and always had a lot of interest in aviation and travel 🙂 Keep up the great job of entertaining the aviation enthusiasts!!

  2. Hi Sergio,

Nice site, very interesting. I’m from Montreal and taking a course at McGill and I am using your site for an example of an aeronautics glossary. Keep up the good work.

  3. Hi,
Oh wow! You know so many languages? I was kind of a language enthusiast, but then my language cravings were overpowered by stronger cravings (art, photography, music). Maybe one day!

  4. Ciao Sergio

I found your blog while playing games in the forums here on WordPress. I really like your blog! It
s so fun! Quizzes, short videos, travel, planes…oh my!
I’ve just learned my second language, Italian.
    Have a good weekend.

  5. And what is your primary language? Do you believe that you are the same in all of your three languages? I’d have my doubts about that, and of course I have been scanning your texts with the microscope to see whether I cannot find a little mistake of the Spanish kind. None!

However, an American shows mostly his, though sometimes her hoof by mixing up its and it’s and there and their, and you don’t do that either.

My primary language used to be German but I had to put it on the backburner to learn English; and I gave up lots of French, too, in order to learn more Spanish.

    1. @cantueso: Hello again! My mother tongue is Spanish, but the language I speak best is French, followed by English. I had very good English teachers while in High School. 🙂

I took 1 year of German and have been to Germany several times, enough to gain a basic knowledge of German, enough to have a conversation with a friend but not good enough to understand everything in a newspaper.

      1. French!

  6. I have been looking on your site and find it very intresting. I am happy for helping me with the translation. I hav my daughter living in Ireland -Kilkenny. Saw you have been in Dublin. Have a nich day. I will build may WP but it takes time.
