First special request! A visitor contacted me today asking about this soothing, relaxing commercial (or so I think?). I saw it in 2008 on YouTube shortly after the “Journeys of Inspiration” campaign was released.
So this is what a true KLM fan looks like, it seems… I wonder if that ever happens at Schiphol. Ah, I wish I could go planespotting like in the old days! Speaking of which, I found this commercial thanks to user Quebecair727 of YULAviation, a community of planespotters and fans in Montreal.
Two businessmen are in Thailand and one suddenly sends the other an SMS: “Race for who gets home first.” It’s “The Amazing Race”, KLM version, except that “Welkom thuis” (Welcome home) takes a whole different turn.
Another quality KLM wants to portray: how reliable (Betrouwbaar in Dutch) the airline is. It’s all in its slogan. It’s almost poetic: “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” by The Supremes, the rock-solid hymn to love, along with a rock-solid flying V formation of swans, is all it takes to portray this.
